Elaine Megahey


Lives and works in N.Ireland. Education: University Ulster, BA Hons Textiles/Embroidery,1984. MA Textiles, Birmingham Polytechnic,1986. PGCFHE, Greenwich University & Belfast Metropolitan College, 1997. Associate Lecturer Belfast Metropolitan College, Foundation and HND Fine Art Courses.

Elaine’s work employs print-making,mixed-media,stitch and photography. She creates pieces in response to ideas about time, cycles, place/memory. Drawn, printed and photographic images are grouped,sited and overlaid on reciprocal grounds. Narratives emerge ,acting as metaphors for ongoing shifts in awareness which occur when contemplating these concerns. Recent work has encompassed book arts and in 2007 she was selected to undertake a residency at Pyramid Atlantic Arts Centre, Washington, USA, to develop this research and practice

Solo Exhibitions include Quiet Shifts at Island Arts Centre, N.Ireland 2006. Elaine has exhibited extensively in selected group shows in UK,Ireland,Europe,USA Japan and China.In 2001 she received a Regional Award for Print in The Hunting Art Prize. She has work in various public and private collections. She is also a member of Belfast Print workshop.
